DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself)
One of the core tenets of programming is Don’t Repeat Yourself (DRY). The logic being the more times you repeat yourself, the greater the chances of you making a mistake.
We’re bringing this concept to Backdrop. Many school photographers use CamLynx to acquire and manage their images as they’re photographing. CamLynx provides users with an easy way to manage and organize their photoshoot, tying in image data with student. If you use CamLynx and Backdrop you don’t have to enter any of this information twice. Any client contact information entered into CamLynx can be imported into Backdrop along with client images. Photographing a school has never been so easy!
Let’s see whats involved…
First, create a Image Match export from CamLynx. Refer to your CamLynx documentation to do this (it’s super easy). Then upload the data to your Backdrop’s image-match-import folder:
Next, open up Backdrop, and click on the “Import From CamLynx” feature:
Backdrop will detect all the Image Match exports from your CamLynx photoshoots. Click on the one you want to work with:
Select a client group where you want the data to go:
Set some final options. Backdrop will detect new clients and update existing ones within a group. Some photo sessions can be quite large, so instead of making you wait for things to be done, Backdrop emails you to let you know how things went.
That’s it! Time to go get a cup of coffee while Backdrop does all the work for you.
